  • Nike SB ‘Nothing but the Truth’Kevin Imamura Interview

    Three years in the making, ‘Nothing But the Truth’ is the story of the Nike SB team, on and off their skateboards. Filmed on location in the Santa Clarita Valley of Southern California and set to an original soundtrack composed by Mark Mothersbaugh, professional skateboarders Paul Rodriguez, Brian Anderson, Gino Iannucci, Stefan Janoski, Omar Salazar, Chet Childress, Reese Forbes, Todd Jordan, Daniel Shimizu, Danny Supa, Wieger Van Wageningen, Lance Mountain and amateurs Grant Taylor, Lewis Marnell, Dan Murphy and Clark Hassler teamed up with the Belgian director duo Lionel Goldstein to tell the whole truth and Nothing But the Truth. Think skateboard movie rather than skateboard video. The team was given carte blanche to pitch their story. The skaters would write, star and produce a film about their lives. Each one of the riders wanted to tell the Truth, but the challenge was getting through to the film’s directors who seem to be stuck in the un-golden age of late 70s/early 80s cinema. Whether it’s Todd Jordan’s attempt at making a “film about women and me” or Omar Salazar’s tragic vomiting story, you will be sure to see a new side to the Nike SB team. I spoke to Nike SB’s Kevin Imamura about the film.
