Japan’s NexusVII is a brand that’s been receiving a fair bit of attention here at Slam of late. They manage a great balance between clothing that is relaxed and simple yet upwardly distinct, with an emphasis on carefully articulated small details.  This hoodie and matching badge is dedicated to the genius of Miles Davis, and is inspired by his 1972 classic On the Corner. Although derided at the time as monotonous and incoherent, to todays ears On the Corner comes across like an extended DJ mix, and a forerunner to the more experimentally cerebral ‘journeys into sound’ that hip hop has ushered. This hoodie comes on the heels of a matching tee we saw a week ago, plus another Nexus tee honouring the razor edged brilliance of another jazz legend, Nina Smone.
