Ksubi 09.01 “Lest We Regret” Collection

Read about Ksubi 09.01 “Lest We Regret” Collection on SLAMXHYPE.

“When our youth went completely astray, as we emptied our glasses, we could be sure we would never do any better.” Jean-Michel Mension. The catch cry, “Lest We Regret”, encapsulates the 09.01 Ksubi Collection and way the label looks at life – reckless and radical youth manipulating media and mass communication; exploiting technology to create part-real, part illusionary realities.

The collection manipulates conventional ideas and function. Ksubi have altered shapes and fits by constructing in them high-tech fabrications such as neoprene, lurex mesh metallic denims, whilst still drawing on customary fabrications such as silk georgettes, fine wool knits, cotton jerseys, leather and suede. There is an abundance of unisex pieces with tees, shirts, jackets, shorts and pants. Tailoring prevails with suiting, shirting, panelled leather pieces and denim. Knitwear includes: multi stripes, leopard and random strong block colours.

The denim component of the collection is the most eclectic to date. Ksubi have expanded vintage washes and utilised hi-tech denim fabrications; exploited high-speed bleaching, silk screened and digitally printed denim, as well as introducing metallic stitching. There are new denim shapes, styles and fits for both women and men. For men Ksubi have the Deckard, a rigid panelled skinny jean with leather contrast and the Hustler, our new baggy jean.

The collection graphics pay homage to a generation of lost analogue addicts. Ksubi who have long wanted to do a pirate TV station as an outlet for all of our erratic ideas, idiosyncratic rants and nonsensical dreamlike babble. For 09.01 we created a mock pilot for the TV station, named Channel 5 (no reference to Chanel No.5); the prints contain imagery, photographed from the pilot video.
