Oakley x Eric Koston Collection

After previewing the mini-collection between Oakley and team rider Eric Koston about a month ago, we can now offer you a more detailed look what the two came up with. As you can see, a ballistic nylon backpack in black, a military inspired day pack and wood grain Frogskins are all part of this initial offering, with more to come in 2010. This is a great way to kick things off, as Oakley seeks to highlight product outside of eyewear with an emphasis on bags.

The product just launched at the Harajuku O store with an event that showcased photos from Atiba Jefferson and Keiichi Nitta. The collection is currently available there and it will also make its way Primitive, Commonwealth, In4mation and TheBerrics.com this month. The product will be exclusive to the aforementioned locations throughout the month of October, with availability opening up worldwide come November.

Last night marked the global launch of the highly anticipated collection between Oakley and Eric Koston. In an event that took place at the Harajuku O store, the world got to see the backpack, daypack and Frogskins that were briefly previewed throughout the blogosphere last month, and as expected — the product was a definite homerun with the crowd in attendance. Koston was on hand for the occasion and his presence was extremely appreciated to say the least. He graciously took the time to sign autographs and take photos with fans, while two other key components to the overall equation: Keiichi Nitta and Atiba Jefferson were also in attendance. Keiichi recently photographed Koston for a series of lifestyle oriented shots and Atiba has taken photos of Koston since the beginning of his amazing career. As an added bonus, attendees were treated to a very special and extremely limited look book featuring images from the aforementioned photographers and select VIPs were gifted with the limited edition woodgrain Koston Frogskins.

Earlier in the year, Oakley added an immense skateboard talent in Eric Koston in a signing that went relatively under the radar. As part of the deal, Koston will be releasing product bearing the “EK” symbol and to kick things off, 2 backpacks and a pair of Oakley Frogskins will be coming out at the very end of September/beginning of October at very select retailers. Oakley has released two of the original colors of Frogskins from last year’s welcomed relaunch of the sunglass frame first made popular back in the 1980s. Polished black and polished rootbeer have been brought back with polarized lenses adding a little to the retail cost, but no price is too heavy when it comes to protecting those precious eyes.

C100 Artist Series Oakley Jupiter – A First Look

The next release from Oakley’s Artist Series will see work from Munich-based artist Christian Hundertmark aka C100. For this release, C100 worked with one of the most recent additions to the Oakley Square O family: the Jupiter. The Jupiter is an updated take on the classic Frogskins with some noticeable differences. It still holds the same classic look, but is a bit more sleek as far as the overall silhouette goes. C100 used a predominantly black and purple (my favorite color combo) pattern, with touches of grey in the mix. A tee will also be available and a bandana with the print will be included, much like the Will Barras Montefrio that came out earlier in the year. These are limited to 2,500 pieces worldwide and they will release in June.

Shaun White, who already has a signature sunglass with Oakley with his popular Montefrio frame from the Square O program, will have a special and limited edition pair of Frogskins that will be releasing soon. Here is a first look at them now. These clean metallic blue Frogskins will come with a custom sunglass bag and like all Frogskins, they will come in limited numbers, actually, slightly less than normal. These are set to drop in June, so be sure to stay tuned for more information.

Heres a sneak peek at the brand-new, super-limited Gentei x Oakley “Knight Rider” Frogskins sunglasses. Restricted to a production run of only 100 pieces, these were personally retooled and re-imagined by Gentei founder and creative director Oliver Jones to create a conceptually complete product from start to finish. Amber-tinted lenses specifically made for night riding and overcast days, inside black fade-to-clear frames with the Gentei logo in chrome on the inside. ’60s vintage styling cues combined with the timeless Frogskins silhouette to create a wholly new interpretation of an icon. Oakley x Paul Smith Frogskins

Oakley and more particular the Frogskins have been at the centre of multiple collaborations with the likes of Supreme to the host of names on their artist series. This project with English designer Paul Smith is one that certainly captures the eye with a fresh, vibrant collection making for an interesting release. The colection reflects an approach that goes deep into the origin of the Frogskins. Having seen two colorways already, take a close look at the other two that complete the collection below that will release only at Paul Smith stores and limited to 500 pieces.
