Erik Brunetti is the latest artist to work alongside Undefeated, in a new series of prints. Fuct’s Brunetti gives us a sneak peak at the work to come out of the collaboration in its rawest form. I’m really impressed with the juxtaposition of Brunetti’s style of illustration and the sports theme. Stay tuned, more news to come from this new partnership.

SSDD has just released their custom hooded fleece and it looks grand as ever. Obviously everything Erik Brunetti does is a favorite of ours here at SlamxHype and these hoodies are no different. They have utilized their own custom body in classic heather gray and black with felt applique letters on the front and screen print on the back. If you are lucky enough to own this it is sure to become one of your favorite hoodies. SSDD this season has continued to solidify its reputation as being one of our favorite brands.

Pulling their denim sources from Okayama, Japan’s most superior location for the quality denim fabric, SSDD (Sam Shit Different Day) release their Okayama Selvedge Denim style,s which we are loving here at Slamxhype, the raw denim and a dirty washed denim jean. All metal trims on the denim are YKK New Max. YKK New Max is the replica of vintage Scovill trims, the 1820 USA trims which are no longer in business (YKK bought the rights of the Scovill trim shapes). Have a look below at the new styles from SSDD (Same Shit Different Day) Okayama Selvedge Denim collection.

Earlier in the week we gave you the first look at Fuct SSDD’s “Erebus” collection and now we have some detailed photos of everything. The materials and prints are great and the whole line is very solid, one of the most exciting things we’ve seen so far in 2010. Erik Brunetti continues to add to his already legendary reputation with what I feel is a perfectly executed collection.

“EREBUS- (”deep darkness or shadow”) was the son of a primordial god, Chaos and represented the personification of darkness and shadow. Erebus’s mother is Gaia, goddess of the earth.”

As Fuct’s exclusive SSDD(Same Shit Different Day) continues to develop, with each season seeing a more encompassing collection of garments and goods, Erik Brunetti’s 2010 Spring collection, entitled “EREBUS” features custom fabrics and textiles as well as SSDD’s own “Broken Tiger” camouflage. The collection as always based on vintage garments, with Brunetti’s own touch, denim, pants, jackets, sweats, and shirts, each of which as compelling as each other. Another reason why SSDD is one of my most sought after collections, and certainly one of my most respected.

It’s not just streetwear enthusiasts who are that familiar with the brand, in the 90’s Fuct was the biggest brand there was, and Erik Brunetti the man behind it. The last few years have seen Fuct return, under a new guise and a new motivation. We all know the story, and we all know how important Fuct is to our landscape, and how talented Brunetti is, not just as a designer, but as an artist and now as a film maker, and director. After the release of the first part of his new movie ‘The Doctrine’ I had a quick chat to Erik to catch up, as always, his words speak volumes.

We let you know last night of the launch of ‘The Doctrine’ Part 1, at fuct.com. If you haven’t seen it yet, heres the official HD Vimeo. Written, Directed and Scored by Fuct founder and creator Erik Brunetti, once again ensuring we’re all aware how talented the artist is. There’s much more about the film here, and if you’re anything like me, you’re already waiting impatiently for Part 2 (which we have word includes a few surprises), in the meantime, enjoy Part 1.

Warning! This is not some streetwear brand launching a preview of their collection using a handycam, this is a film! Enjoy!

Erik Brunetti is a visionary, someone who’s impact on our culture is bar none, Fuct is one of the most important labels in the history of streetwear, and seeing its return over the past few years has also seen Erik open himself up to allow others to see his creative processes like never before, ensuring that we all can see just why Fuct is such a huge success. Now taking his amazing eye to a new medium, short films, the movie goes live at midnight (L.A. time) tonight at the www.fuct.com splash page, and you can be sure it will be both as good technically as it is telling in its story line.

Utilizing a digital movie camera along with the rapidly growing and accessible exposure on the Internet, Erik Brunetti has begun writing and directing short fictional movies for his brand FUCT’s home page. The short movies depict thought provoking lifestyles, stories and scenarios for the brands different products. Unlike the prior sampled clips at the infamous home splash page, Brunetti is writing, directing and scoring the sound for these short films.

The first release is part 1 of 3 of the trilogy (with 2 more to follow.)

“For 2010 I will begin presenting a trilogy of FUCT commercials, the next logical step, given the fact that I reference much from cinema pop culture. I feel this is a major push in the right direction for my brand within our industry, as we have the ability to do anything with the digital tools available to us.

My decision to take our home page one step farther, (i.e. actually making my own films, as opposed to showing films I reference) came via the Internet / hypesites, after reading about lesser, younger companies, as well as over paid art directors complaining about how ” it’s all been done, where can we go from here, streetwear is dead…etc.” I find those statements and sentiments defeatist. The sky is the limit as to what can be achieved. “

2009 was a big year for menswear, and alot of that rests on the fact that menswear has become a trend within itself. This year saw the rise and rise of authenticity as a philosophy of design, and along with that came the resurgence of numerous heritage brands, not to mention a host of brands sharing the same philosophies of their forefathers. While heritage was the stand out trend amongst menswear through 2009, a selection of brands came to light in their effort to create what could be considered the complete opposite, creating something new for the future, the likes of Damir Doma and Rick Owens managed to reinvent menswear as it’s seen, without in anyway losing its sense of integrity and quality. 2009 was split between what was good about menswear and what is to become. In my opinion one of the stand out years in sometime on a number of different levels, and while we can all sit and find hate in the fact that our favoured staples of workwear garments have become trend driven, the fact is, we can’t possibly complain at what’s become available due to this.

While we have been careful not to rank our Top 10 picks from top to bottom, we have to admit our favouritism toward Adam Kimmel, its been said over and over that the New York based designer is the new Martin Margiela, we hate these sorts of comparison’s but one thing is obvious, the belgian and the young New Yorker share a similar philosophy in creating a timeless wardrobe from top to bottom, a wardrobe that will without doubt be just as wearable today as it is in 10 years.

Back in September we provided you with the first look at this really interesting collaboration between Erik Brunetti and Medicom. News has now broken out that the collection will also consist of the input from Canton making this a three way project. The interior of this satchel bag features a contemporary version of the ‘Nam Mitchell pattern which Erik Brunetti has created, and will also appear on two pieces of FUCT’s spring/summer 2010 collection.

Fuct have just release two new shirts inspired by the early days of skateboarding in a collection entitled “The Trench”. With photography by Brian Plebani and Eric De Jesus, featuring quotes from Hemingway and Nietzsche and based on a favourite skating spot in Philadelphia the collection is a typically strong concept from Erik Brunetti.

Here are Mr Brunetti’s thoughts on the project in his own words:

“The Trench. A drainage ditch that runs along the 378 freeway in Pa.

My friends and I cleaned, cleared and started skating this spot in late 1981. It became the area hangout for delinquent teens and punks as well as the the breeding ground for some of the best skateboarders from Philly, NYC and N.J. – Many scuffles and fist fights happened in the trench- Punks VS Jocks, Stoners VS Straight Edge kids, etc…every west coast pro that came through the area would visit 2 spots, The MFC vert ramp and the Trench.

The Trench shaped many lives, including my own, it represents 100% rebellion to leagues of skaters all over the east coast. Today, it still remains as one of the most frequented skate spots in the tri-state area.

The Trench Photo print set- consist of photographs of friends shot by friends circa 1983-86, at the highly influential east coast skate spot. “
