Lyle Owerko: The Boombox Project

New York based photographer, Lyle Owerko, has put together an extremely fresh photo project titled, The Boombox Project. The photos are of old boombox radios that have achieved icon status and were one the most favored means of listening to music in the 80s. The popular radios boasted some large speakers and controls to project a mammoth sound that was capable of being taken anywhere due to the portable nature of the device. I myself owned one as a youngster in Souther California that I carried while family and friends perfected their dance maneuvers to the sound of freestyle and hip-hop music. Owerko’s photographs definitely spark the nostalgia Thanks to Notcot for the heads up.
