Ai Weiwei might have become widely known for his stance on Chinese Politics and unfortunately more so in recent times for the result of his stance, but well before the recent incidents in China, Ai Weiwei lived and worked in New York’s East Village. This was during the late 80′s and early 90′s when the streets of NYC were filled with Rioting New Yorkers and violence coming from the rioters and police alike. From a staggering selection of more than 10,000, 227 of these photographs are on display at New York’s Asia Society Museum from June 29 through August 14.

An absolute must see.
