Ironically it was just 2 years ago that the chinese government invited Ai Weiwei to open a studio space in the northern district of Jiading. Authorities have however stayed true to their word in demolishing the now infamous studio. Last year Ai Weiwei’s studio was deemed illegal by the government who said it did not follow the  proper building permits, so plans for the building’s demolition were slated, it was however widely suggested that this was however a means to quiet the outspoken artist/activist. These images of the demolishing process are more meaningful than they first appear.
