Highly acclaimed Indian artist Anish Kapoor, who recently returned to India to open his first solo exhibition in his native country has returned to Paris, the city where he first exhibited his work some 30 years ago. Entitled Leviathan, the sculpture is 35 meter tall work and made from PVC is 13,500 square meters when inflated, forming a cathedral-like space inside creating the illusion of being inside a giant whale. Kapoor has dedicated this piece of mass proportions which is part of the Monumenta exhibition in Paris’ Grand Palais, to Chinese activist and artist Ai Weiwei in hope of raising awareness for his unjust detention by the Chinese Government.
