Renowned British-based sculptor Anish Kapoor celebrates his first major exhibition in Australia this summer as part of the Sydney International Art Series. Known for creating some of the world’s most ambitious and recognisable contemporary artworks, a selection of key works from Kapoor’s career will be displayed across two floors of the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia. Influenced by both his Indian heritage and western philosophy, in particular metaphysics, Kapoor’s artworks seek to understand what it is to be human, and the artist’s continual experimentation with structure, medium and material has explored this notion on a large scale, creating beautiful, strange and intriguing works that counter conventional ideas of art. The exhibition runs through April 1st, 2013.
