Artists on Their Bicycles New York | 2010 Calender
We live in a world where time moves faster, where we care less and less about the date and time, and more and more about the hustle. Sometimes I think we just need to take things back to simpler times where we marked off dates on the calender on the kitchen wall. The Swiss Institute thought the same, and managed to find a way to get our attention by creating a calender featuring our favourite artists, and better still profiled on their bikes…
Just 500 of the Calenders have been produced, and will debut at Art Basel next week where I’m imagining you’ll need to be pretty quick to make sure you get your hands on one, ironically bringing back the hustle – I guess we just can’t escape it!
The Line-up reads… January : Philip-Lorca diCorcia, February : Collier Schorr, March : Ugo Rondinone, April : Richard Phillips, May : Amy Granat, June : Rainer Ganahl, July: Rita Ackermann / Aurel Schmidt, August : NN, September : Maurizio Cattelan, October : Ryan McGinley, November : Pierre Huyghe, December : David Byrne / Cindy Sherman.
You can view the entire calender as a pdf here.
New York City’s Swiss Institute has grown from its original presence as the home of Swiss artists and their art in NYC, to an international Art space, and one of my favourite spots for Artist Editions, this calender is merely an example of a number of great projects they are involved in day in day out, and make available through their space and online. Its worth checking out what they have available here.
