“Attachments” Exhibition curated by Tim Barber and Kathy Grayson at The Hole Gallery
Bedu is the final photographic project in artist Jim Mangan’s trilogy on the subject of rebirth. Shot in both black and white and color instant film and 35 mm film, Bedu is set among the desolate sand dunes of Utah’s Little Sahara Desert and depicts a journey of stepping outside the increasingly narrow confines of modern America. A group of closely knit friends have created new identities by literally painting anew one’s identity with sand, obscuring their former selves and setting the stage for the ultimate experience of freedom and resurrection. Featuring Andrew Kuo, Asger Carlsen, Jason Nocito, Jessica Eaton, Jim Mangan, Kate Steciw, Peter Sutherland, Sandy Kim and Tim Barber himself, this makes for an exciting prospect.
