In this installment of the Beginnings Series by the Sundance Channel they focus on Iranian Director and Graphic Novelist Marjane Satrapi. Beginnings is a series of shorts by Chiara Clemente in which cultural icons talk about their early inspirations and what led them to their careers. Marjane Satrapi is most well known for being the writer and artist for Persepolis, an autobiographical graphic novel about her childhood in a tumultuous Iran after the Islamic revolution. If you haven’t gotten the chance to read or watch Persepolis I would recommend you do so, they are equally great in both mediums.
