BLOC28 By Disney Artist Series 2
The Continental Gallery in Downtown Los Angeles was the location for last night’s VIP opening for the second series of Disney’s BLOC28 Artist Series program. Yevgeniy Shukhman and myself were in attendance to view the latest efforts from the Disney program in which the world’s most famous mouse gets a makeover at the hands of some of today’s most prominent street artists. It was indeed a packed house as people came in flocks to see Mickey Mouse as interpreted through the eyes of artists the likes of Aroe, Chaz Bojorquez, Ewok, Rime, Tenga and Suiko. As an added bonus, works from the first series, which featured our friend Steven Daily, Greg Simkins, David Flores, Mear One, and Slick were all shown alongside the second series participants’ work. Have a look at the images provided by Yevgeniy after the jump.
The images below do a great job of capturing the mood and atmosphere of the evening. It was pretty electric as the crowd was really into the sights and sounds taking place at the Continental Gallery. A lot of people came out to support the show including artists from the first series of BLOC28 as well as the current roster of talents from the second series. It was a bit hectic getting into the show at first due to the large turnout, but once inside, it ended up being a lot of fun seeing all the great work on display as well as all the familiar faces in the crowd.
Oh, another thing: be sure to check Span of Sunset’s collectible vinyl toy and New Era hat they currently have on their site. This is only piece available from the BLOC28 program at the moment and it is a really great collectible item.
The show will run through the weekend, so be sure to check it out if you are in Southern California.
Now, on to the photos. Hope you enjoy!
