Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang has started preparatory work on his new exhibition which opens April 8 at the MOCA in Los Angeles. The exhibition, titled “Sky Ladder”, will be the first West Coast solo show for the world-renowned New York-based artist and will feature new commissioned works including three gunpowder drawings and a public outdoor explosion event created onsite at the museum. The following behind-the-scenes photographs by Carlos Gonzalez depict work on Chaos in Nature, which depicts “uncontrollable forces in nature such as earthquakes, tsunami, volcanic eruptions and hurricanes.”
