Zaha Hadid is behind plans for the largest cultural building in China, the Chengdu Contemporary Art Centre in Sichuan Province. Due for completion 2012, the museum of contemporary art will measure in at 30,000 sqm, with the addition of a 12,000-sqm exhibition hall, and an 1,800-seat grand theatre. When completed the landmark will be dubbed ‘the gemini of the south.’
