Damien Hirst is set to release a new illustrated alphabet book through arts-based publishing company Other Criteria, (which he co-founded). Drawing on his body of work which addresses the scientific, philosophical and religious issues that lie at the heart of human existence, Hirst works his way from “A is for Anatomy” to “Z is for Zebra”, with each letter accompanied by a photograph of one of his own artworks. Titled, ABC, the book also offers a window into typography, with each letter representing an alphabetically led font, A is for Albertus, B is for Baskerville, etc. Printed on child friendly ‘soya bean ink’, acts as a fun introduction to Hirst’s work.
