Renowned artist and photographer David LaChapelle has created this fitting body of works that will open today, Valentines Day. Entitled “Earth Laughs in Flowers,” LaChappelle draws in inspiration from Ralph Waldo Emerson’s poem Hamatreya with the ten large-scale images depicting the earth’s flowers ridicule man’s arrogant belief that he holds a permanent and indestructible dominion over the earth he walks on. Combining skulls, flowers and fruit as Baroque imagery, this makes for a compelling installation from the American artist and one that should not be missed.
