Ed Ruscha: On the Road Exhibition
The legendary collaboration between Ed Ruscha and Jack Kerouac – which originally manifested itself in a book available through Gagosian, now see’s itself displayed as an exhibition of works by Ruscha. The book which was famously written on a continuous 120 foot-long scroll by Kerouac has been studied at depth in recent years by Ruscha and after the 2009 book release, we now can visit the works in LA.
The exhibition will showcase Ruscha’s edition of the Kerouac novel, six large paintings, and ten drawings created on museum board, each taking their text from On the Road, using phrases like “In California you chew the juice out of grapes and spit away the skin, a real luxury.”
“Ed Ruscha: On The Road” opened on the 4th July and will be running through 2 October, 2011.
