Introducing ‘Scott Campbell’

Read about Introducing ‘Scott Campbell’ on SLAMXHYPE.

This week’s Introducing will feature an artist by the name of Scott Campbell. Scott currently is showing in two group shows, both of which opened this past Friday at Gallery 1988 in San Francisco and at T & P Fine Art in Philadelphia. If you are around either of these great cities, you should stop by and check out the shows, as Campbell’s work definitely something to check out. Now, back to the featured artist…

One of the reason’s why I chose Scott Campbell, is that I find his work to be really delightful. I love checking the pop-culture references contained in his work. Some very iconic TV/cartoon characters, superheroes, historical figures and widely recognizable movie characters can often be seen in his work, but with his trademark quirky style. One of my favorite pieces from him has to be the poster for this past Crazy 4 Cult Show at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles. All sorts of characters ranging from Neo from The Matrix, Michael Myers, John Cusack from Say Anything…, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Masacre, Vincent Vega and Jules Winfield from Pulp Fiction and many more can be found throught his work for that particular poster and in his other bodies of work. Check the gallery below at some examples of his work and be sure to check his blog for updates.
