Jim Krantz is an American photographer from Chicago, Illinois. His body of work illustrates his immense range, blurring the boundaries between commercial work and fine art. Commercially, Krantz has photographed campaigns for clients such as the U.S. Army and Marines, Nokia, and McDonaldʼs. He also created some of the most famous images of Marlboro Country for Philip Morris. As an artist, Krantz challenges the notion of traditional photography with installations like “Moments Within a Moment” and his recent Continuum series. Recently, he traveled to the Ukraine to photograph the forgotten inhabitants of Tchernobylʼs Forbidden Zone.

His exhibition at colette will feature his Adam Kimmel 2010 Western-influenced look book photography as well as his encaustic “Moments Within a Moment” installation.

Available now at colette. There’s also a special edition shirt created by Kimmel for the exhibition, stay tuned for more info on that.
