Keith Haring’s 1985 Mural is currently on display at Deitch Projects Wooster Street location in Soho. On show until February 16th 2010, the 70-foot-long mural was painted in 1985 for San Francisco’s South of Market Childcare Center (SOMACC), a non-profit childcare center that serves pre-school children from the SOMA neighborhood. One of 16 public works painted at hospitals and children’s centers around the world during Keith Haring’s lifetime, the mural was painted in one day, incorporating cartoon characters and animals inspired by the artist’s childhood drawings. A must see before this legendary gallery closes it’s doors.
