Kenny Scharf
The enigmatic downtown artist Kenny Scharf has begun work on an ambitious public project where over a period of time he will be spray painting dozens of New York City’s roll-down, store-front shutters for The Street Gallery, a new public art project by the Mediacy Group’s Gatescapes program. Anonymous Gallery is presenting these painted gates as part of its ongoing public art program and as this project continues, Anonymous will create innovative opportunities for the public to view the artwork.
This week, Kenny Scharf started work on the large-scale Houston Street / Bowery wall, originally painted by his friend and collaborator, Keith Haring.
