This week the Serpentine Gallery in London opens its first ever exhibition dedicated to modern industrial design – “Design Real”. Curated by influential German designer Konstantin Grcic, the exhibition has grown out of the Serpentine’s desire to show how popular design, like contemporary art reflects the society we live in. Featuring a selection of ‘real’ items, mass-produced products that have a practical function in everyday life. The exhibition presents a wide range of objects by leading international designers including Jasper Morrison, Ross Lovegrove and Zaha Hadid, and range from furniture and household products to technical and industrial innovations.
The exhibition is at the Serpentine in London from Thursday 26th November until 7th February 2010.
