Having graduated from Cooper Union and working under Dan Colen for a time, Lucien Smith who is represented by OHWOW is now making an impression in a big way. Since his show at 41 Cooper Gallery earlier this year back with an exhibition entitled Imagined Nostalgia and another noteworthy exhibition entitled Needle in the Hay, his name has been the topic of much conversation. Continuing to explore themes of control, self-efficacy, and rites of passage through a variety of paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media works, each illustrating his wry wit and self-deprecating humor this latest exhibition entitled “Cripple Creek” at Ritter / Zamet makes for anothe rimpressive showing.
