Lynnette Astaire will be making her debut as a performance artist at the upcoming Deitch Art Parade, which we recently reported here, with a show titled, Polaroid Funeral. The show is a photography show that makes use of the now defunct Polaroid film. The artist draws her inspiration from New Orleans cultural elements such ranging from the spiritual side like voodoo folklore and funerals, to the more exotic side like burlesque. Astaire, who has a B.A. in Photography that she attained at New York’s School of Visual Arts, has shown in group shows in the past and has collaborated with Married to the Mob by co-producing some of their provocative campaigns. The show is to take place on September 6th at 4pm.
