What inspires someone to take on so many creative enterprises and to continue pushing the boundaries of visual media and communication? For us to summarise would be vulgar, so instead we asked him… why do you do what you do?
Cause I was only so good at skating. Same with music, I have no ear. Because I could barely speak English when I graduated from Santa Barbara public high school. Because I can’t do just one thing. Because I believe that the aesthetic world, the world of stories, the world of entertainment is where we make sense of ourselves, and is therefore powerful, as in politics powerful. Because I’ve always drawn things. Because the world was never explained to me in verbal terms, so I had to figure it out by the way things look, and thus the way things look
became everything, too much really.
