English artist Nash Money is well known for his fusion of customisation and craftsmanship, and now London’s V&A Museum has released a video revealing his intricate working process as part of their ‘Fashion V Sport‘ exhibition. Avoiding the well-worn route of simply painting on sneakers, Nash applies a mixture of both traditional and innovative techniques to turn the humble mass-produced trainer into a one-off, hand-crafted object. The sneakers are taken apart before being re-paneled with new fabrics, decorated with paint and Nash’s signature moccasin stitching, and embellished with labels, gold leaf and military badges to create something that can be appreciated as easily by your mum as by a hardened sneaker nerd. Check out the film and stills below and keep an eye on Nash’s new blog for more news.
