New Banksy Goes Under The Hammer To Help Teenagers

New artwork by Banksy will be auctioned to raise money to help unemployed teenagers into work. The piece titled “Go Flock Yourself“, which shows a boy spray painting a flock pattern onto wallpaper, will raise funds for The Prince’s Trust, which provides training for unemployed teens. Great to see street artists not only contribute to society via thought provoking imagery, but also financially as seen here especially in times of economic turmoil. Take a look at the artwork inside.

“The piece by the graffiti artist will sell alongside donated works by urban artists Goldie and Nick Walker. The paintings will hang at Selfridges department store in London before the 26 February auction. Money from the auction will be given to The Prince’s Trust, a charity which helps young people into training and jobs.

One of the artists whose work is to be auctioned was himself backed by the organisation when starting out.

Bristol graffiti artist Dicy said the charity “gave me the confidence and backing to start my own design business when no-one else would. Now I’m incredibly proud to give something back.”

The Prince’s Trust Success Collection runs alongside two other exhibitions of urban art for auction.

The first, ArtCore, will bring together art from clubs and raves from the days of acid house. The second, Urban Art, will feature more Banksy pieces alongside street artists like Nick Walker, Adam Neate and Guy Denning.” - BBC
