Nike Basketball unveiled their latest film titled “Rise” today featuring the man who was at the core of what was easily the most talked about NBA off seasons, Lebron James. Sports fans, and even the casual watchers, were captivated at the conclusion of the Cleveland Cavaliers playoff run this past season as the biggest question in NBA history became the talk of the sporting world: Where will Lebron go? “C’mon Lebron” became the slogan for New York; New Jersey brought in James’ friend and Nets part-owner, Jay Z, to court the highly coveted free agent; while other suitors also put forth their best efforts to land King James and after an intense build up, Lebron announced his decision to join Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami.

The announcement devastated Cleveland and made him a pariah in the city that once worshipped and adored him, but as with most things in life, you can’t satisfy everyone. Fact is: Lebron was a Free Agent — ‘Free’ being the key word — and was able to do what he pleased, but his decision took his hero status, straight down to villain status in a matter of seconds. Sure, he could have informed Cleveland prior to the heartbreaking announcement, but what’s done is done.

Anyway, this is not a sports site, so, onto the film. Nike Basketball and Lebron do an amazing job of tackling his controversial decision head on with “Rise” in typical Nike fashion with a well thought out script, amazing imagery and of course, surprising cameos as is the case with Miami Vice’s Don Johnson this time around.
