Nike Stadium Paris opened last night featuring the work of French-Korean artist Sanghon Kim, who explored the idea of the increasing “mystical influence” derived from Africa on both a global and football level. Appropriately named ‘Black Magic’ the space incorporates mystical beliefs and superstitions including animals, number and colors, for example; magic colors (orange for Côte d’Ivoire, yellow for Brasil, dark red for Portugal), magic animals such as the elephant, the jaguar and the dragon (for St Georges’ myth), and  magic numbers including 11, 10 and 7, plus a spell to promote strength, agility and speed.
