I was lucky enough to be invited to the preview launch of Paddle8 last week in NY, and it was without a doubt one of the most unique experiences I have seen in the art world. The gallery/auction house have a complete new take on what they do, and if their preview show, Saturation, is anything to go by, and the announcement of their upcoming show, Wit, curated by Glenn O’Brien, we’re going to be hearing alot about paddle8.

This concept genuinely brings the art world online in a creditable way – check it out in detail here.

“Co-founders Alexander Gilkes and Aditya Julka have joined forces with partners Hikari Yokoyama and design firm TENDER to introduce Paddle8, a new destination for examining, understanding, and acquiring unique artworks. Paddle8 grants collectors access to a dynamic series of guest-curated exhibitions by influential cultural figures; informative and in-depth editorial content; streamlined access to leading galleries; and eased transaction processes. On May 18, 2011, Paddle8 will present a preview exhibition curated by Paddle8 Partner and Director, Hikari Yokoyama to precede the first guest-curated exhibition in June. Featuring artworks by artists including Diana Al-Hadid, Olaf Breuning, Josephine Meckseper, Richard Phillips and Thomas Ruff, among others, Saturation offers an exploration of its name as it relates to the bombardment and yet endless possibilities of visual imagery today. On June 22, 2011, Paddle8 premieres Wit, an exhibition curated by acclaimed writer, critic and former publishing editor, film and television producer Glenn O’Brien.”
