It’s been a busy few months for Todd James, exhibiting in Madrid and London before opening his next solo show at Toronto’s Cooper Cole Gallery. In Splash Damage, the American artist (also known as REAS) will feature new works from his ongoing series of figurative paintings on canvas and paper, focusing on curvaceous female characters, everyday objects and his familiar rebels and guns. Notably, James has used silver unsparingly as a background colour, perhaps adding mystery and glamour to scenes which might otherwise be seen as outright dangerous. Splash Damage runs from November 8 – December 7, 2013.
