As part of Gallery Weekend in Berlin. The city’s most respected alternative fashion emporia Apartment, will be hosting “To pop a boner”, an exhibition of furniture designed by Rick Owens.

We have a lot of admiration for Rick Owens here at slamxhype, his deconstructed take on the hallmarks of rock’n'roll and street fashion are a constant inspiration to us, but not many people know that he has also turned his hand to creating some spectacular and striking furniture too.

Following on from his exhibition in London last year, the show highlights Owens personal take on home furnishings.  Creating custom designed furniture for his Paris headquarters he uses plywood, resin and fibreglass to create imposing sculpture like shapes.  Using skulls, antlers and angular shapes,  but softened with fur and cashmere he skillfully echos the gothic and off kilter, yet luxury nature of his clothing.

“To pop a boner” is taking place at Apartment am Alexanderplatz between April 30th to May 2nd, during Gallery Weekend – where Germany’s spring artistic season kicks off with 40 openings in 40 galleries.
