The Avant/Garde Diaries & Transmission 1 Curated by Raf Simons
Mercedes ‘The Avant/Garde Diaries‘ is an online magazine that brings the Avantgarde of today’s world together in discussion. The video based content allows innovators and some of the world’s best know and respected creatives to go out document the lives and creative process of someone who inspires them. The site is now officially live and already packed full of high quality video footage. Check it out there.
To launch the new editorial project and to showcase Mercedes A-Class Showcar, the legendary car manufacturers brought in one of the most creative people in fashion, Raf Simons, to curate an exhibition entitled ‘Transmission 1′. Raf Simons selected a small group of artists who he considered, in their own way, true avantgarde’s.
These artists include Peter Saville, industrial designer Konstantin Grcic, Choreographer and dancer Michael Clark, Artist Peter de Potter, These New Puritans and Germaine Kruip, Goose, Begum Sekendiz Bore and Peter Henderson.
The space is open to the public over the weekend in Berlin, but for those not in Berlin, the site is up and running with plenty more to come.
The Mercedes Concept A-Class showcar itself was pretty impressive, take a look below.
