Victor Castillo's Strange Fruit at Merry Karnowsky Gallery

Chilean-born but Barcelona-based artist Victor Castillo is internationally recognized for the semi-cartoon, semi-surreal visions he paints of the world, infusing each piece he creates with a dark biting wit that is all his own. The acute social commentator is currently showing at Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Los Angeles alongside fellow Barcelona transplant Miss Van. Their exhibits opened February 6 and remain on view through March 6, so all based in the Los Angeles area are encouraged to check them out. For now, however, here is the beautiful titular piece from Castillo’s exhibit, painted in just one week in the artist’s Los Angeles studio.
