“Sitting on a Rainbow” is the title of Wes Lang’s most recent drawing show, a series executed on hotel stationery at The Chateau Marmont and presented in its legendary penthouse for one night only. He’s a biker kid from New Jersey who loves The Grateful Dead and Roberta’s in Bushwick, but on the art front Wes might just be the closest thing to an American Martin Kippenberger that his generation has to offer. He’s been featured in everything from Purple Magazine to The New York Times. He will mount a two person show with Scott Campbell here in New York in the fall. His subject matter includes sex and death and the glue that holds the two together. Our favorite thing about Wes is that he’s a tattoo artist who tattoos artists. Think about it.
