Whitney Biennial 2010 Artists Announced

Italian-born Francesco Bonami, 54, and Gary Carrion-Murayari, 29, who are next years 2010 Whitney Biennial curators, have just announced their list of emerging artists they wish to represent much of what is taking place in contemporary visual art today. Unlike other years, the 2010 biennial has been scaled back to only 55 artists, as opposed to 81 in 2008 and 100 in 2006. Deciding that they did not want a ‘theme’ as such, they have chosen from emerging artists such as Tauba Auerbach and Ari Marcopoulos and even lesser known artists such as Aurel Schmidt and Aki Sasamoto.
Taking place at the Marcel Building on the southeast corner of Madison Avenue and 75th Street and will be on view Feb. 25 through May 30, 2010. See list reading video below..
