We gave you a preview earlier in the week about an exhibition titled “Top Ten” which is currently on show till the 25th of June at the Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York. Put together by New York-based French street artist WK Interact and Space Invader.
For this exhibition Space Invader takes his trademark of Rubickubism beyond the usual Space Invader imagery which he is known for, and adopt this method to recreated his top 10 classic album covers including the Beatles, Velvet Underground, Sex Pistols, Clash and even Iron Maiden. He also makes use of the QR coding technology and have created a piece of artwork (if you consider it artwork also) which can be read by smartphone cameras, and links the viewer to a time-lapsed Quicktime video of Invader constructing one of his pieces. Take a look at the time-lapse video below along with some snaps from the exhibition. You may also want to check out the Walrus TV interview with WK interact here.
