Zinedine Zidane Head Butt Statue by Adel Abdessemed
Algerian artist Adel Abdessemed has immortalized Zinedine Zidane’s notorious 2006 World Cup head butt in a sixteen foot high statue, outside Paris’ Centre Pompidou. Capturing the incident in all its glory (or perhaps, shame), the sculpture is apparently an “ode to defeat”, going against the tradition of making statues to celebrate victories. Installed as part of Abdessemed’s solo show at the art gallery which runs from October 3-January 7, 2013. (Designboom)
