Last night saw the opening of “Chasing Castles”, a showing of new works by Conor Harrington and Chloe Early at Kinsey/Desforges Gallery in Culver City. Five striking oil on canvas pieces were displayed by each artist, as well as several charcoal works on paper. This is the first time the two Irish artists have exhibited together in the US and their efforts were well received by the crowd that attended the show.
Here’s a picture of Conor, who kindly posed in front of my favorite painting, “The Power of the Ring”.
This beautiful piece by Chloe is entitled “Boundary”. Says the artist of her work, “the characters seem to languish in a forgotten dream world of innocence, excess and desire haunted only by the possibility of knowledge that their dream will fragment.”
Conor and Chloe (to his left) speaking to enthusiastic fans.
These charcoal works on paper by Conor are entitled “Cycle” and “Cannon”.
The show remains on view through May 30th.
If you haven’t seen them already, make sure you check out the great shots on http://www.arrestedmotion.com of Conor and Chloe painting a mural on the second story wall of the gallery!
