The 10 Most Awesome New Tools For Art Creation and Collaboration (Warning: This Article Features A Dancing Penis Wall)
Lix 3D Printing Pen // The boxy 3D printing machines are in the process of getting an elegant makeover in the form of 3D printing pens. They look incredibly difficult to use (you don’t just design some CAD program, load it into the 3D Printing machine and press “start”), but that makes them even cooler.
The Concave Easel // Twins Trevor and Ryan Oakes have created a concave easel that alters an artist’s perspective and allows them to create fish-eye-esque drawings and paintings (in the way that the human eye naturally perceives the world)
Cinemagraphs // You know what a .GIF is, obviously. But many design companies are offering their clients the ability to create digital photographs where only a section of the image moves (see above). You can take part with a download of the Cinemagram app.
Anya Gallaccio’s Chocolate Room // Apparently we’ve advanced so far in the area of chocolate technology that we can now use it as a construction material. The coolest thing about Anya Gallaccio’s exhibition though? Visitors can actually lick the walls. Actually, that might be the grossest thing about it too.
Minecraft // We don’t know much about Minecraft … but the things people create using the game’s tools are insane. Yes, images are one thing, but creating whole renderings of real, fictional, or fantastical cities blows our minds.
Vintage Family Polaroid GIFs // Everyone loves .GIF's now, but they’re not just for capturing Jennifer Lawrence’s red carpet tumbles and/or a LeBron James dunk. Digital artists are using them to make some wild, visually arresting designs.
Lego Art // Like Minecraft - only made of real, tangible things. Lego art has come a long way since the tiny building bricks were first released in 1949.
Os Gemeos Brazilian National Soccer Team Plane // Graffiti has long been the most accessible way to put your name out into the world. The 'Os Gemeos' brothers have been covering walls with paint for a long-ass time. But they recently used a plane, specifically the Brazilian National Soccer Team’s plane, as a canvas for their creativity.
The KDU X Hennessy Art Bottles // Speaking of bringing old creative principles to new mediums, we just can’t stop talking about Hennessy’s artist series labels. Art + Liquor always gets our stamp of approval.
Peiqi Su’s Dancing Penis Wall // Did you know they make walls out of plastic penises that respond to both movement and sonic pulses. We’re not sure if this gets our stamp of approval, but the uber-intricate penises are made out of 3D-printed parts ... so that’s cool.
Not too long ago, the SlamXHype acquired a fancy new 3D Printer and after looking through the various websites that give you pre-made designs to use with the printer (like Thingiverse and TurboSquid), we realized that there’s a whole brave new world of artwork being made with uber-innovative tools.
So, we though, “What other new tools and mediums are artists using to create and collaborate on art and bring it to the world?” We did some digging and now give you: 10 Of The Coolest New Ways Artists Are Creating And Collaborating.
