Cincinnati’s new Country Club Projects have an impressive roster about to hit their gallery. Their latest is entitled Unnamed Places consisting of a new body of work by Colorado-based artist, Evan Hecox. Hecox’s works portray the essence of urban environments, depicting city scenes or isolated elements that are almost cinematic in their stark contrast and abstraction. Hecox is fascinated with the complexity of the urban landscape and people occupying the mundane surroundings that one would normally overlook. This new series of works are derived partly from Hecox’s own photographic explorations combined with his imagination and vintage found photos to generate moody images that evoke the psychological effects of a place. Like snapshots or filmstrips, his work captures the everyday existence of the average person traveling through the detritus of the modern metropolis.
