Renowned art dealer and gallery curator Jeffrey Deitch has unveiled that he will be leaving his position as the director of the Los Angeles MOCA at the end of the month. Having been in the position since 2010 there has been no shortage of controversy, chief curator Paul Schimmel as well as multiple board members from the art community have coincidentally stepped down from their respected positions. On the other hand his time has been rewarded with increased attendances and a more refreshing atmosphere. From here there are two aspects to mull over, where to next for Deitch (of course his namesake gallery Deitch Projects in NYC is a possibility) and who will step in and fill the void at MOCA.
