On Saturday 11th October, between 11am and 1pm, José Parlá will be signing copies of the beautiful book which has been published by Elms Lesters to mark the occasion of this exhibition. The book is hard bound in a limited edition of 1000 copies, and has been designed by José Parlá and Iain Cadby.
It contains 83 full colour images across 140 pages. Structured into sections which explore different areas of José’s methodology and practice, it covers his research/ documentary photography from his travels, previously unpublished works, and concludes with a catalogue of works from this current show – Adaptation / Translation.
With an introduction by Paul Jones of the Elms Lesters Painting Rooms, a foreword by Art Patron, Saeb Eigner and an in-depth critical analysis by curator and avant-garde theorist Michael Betancourt, this book is undoubtedly the most comprehensive study and overview of Parlá’s work to date.
The book includes a giant gatefold and oversized illustrations incorporated in a special feature at the back.
The highest print production technologies and materials have been used to ensure exceptional colour reproduction of the works, including exquisite paper stocks and special inks.
Remember Jose Parla’s ADAPTATION / TRANSLATION show at Elms Lesters in London runs from 10th October – 8th. November 2008. More details here.
