Acclaimed artist and filmmaker Julian Schnabel has announced that he plans to open a gallery on the ground floor of his West Village home. The “community exhibition space” will show work by other artists and enable Schnabel to work with like-minded people with “unique perspectives on art”. Casa del Popolo, as it will be called, will open next Tuesday 18 June, with new paintings by British artist Nick Mead,¬†curated by Schnabel’s girlfriend, May Anderson, who was previously Assistant Director of The Hole gallery.
