KAWS‘ LA fans will be happy to note that the artist has announced a third exhibition at the city’s Honor Fraser Gallery, due to open this September. Included in the show will be a series of works which play on details from Charles M. Schulz’s iconic Peanuts characters. Remaining faithful to Schulz’s original line drawings, KAWS has enlarged certain elements of the likes of Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy and Pig-Pen in a series of fifty black-and-white paper works, laid out in grid formation. KAWS has also created a Corian sculpture cast from his original character “Warm Regards”, which is spliced with the mouth of “KAWSBob” (KAWS‘ version of SpongeBob SquarePants). If you’re not a fan of the “brooding” side of modern art, this exhibition should definitely please.
Look out for this new body of work at the gallery, opening September 13 and running through October 31.
