A move to Lausanne, the Swiss city on the shores of Lake Geneva, proved to be the catalyst for Irish artist Nigel Peake’s new series of 26 pen drawings, currently being exhibited at colette. According to the artist, the geometric drawings, (Peake teaches architecture in Lausanne), tell the story of a young boy who battles against his fear of the dark by building boats. Although there is no visible human presence in the series, the story exists as an intrinsic part of a larger, mystical narrative. The series, titled, In The Dark, is on view at colette through June 1.
