Ellis Gallagher is set to open his very first solo show next Thursday, July 23rd. The exciting exhibition, entitled Ocular Echoism: The Autonomy of Ellis Gallagher, is presented by the De L’Autonomy Mission and will take place at The Gallery at Collective Hardware in New York City.
Says the press release:
“In his highly anticipated debut solo exhibition, Ellis Gallagher continues his creative quest in de-objectifying the common street icon and manifests it into the surreal. His sidewalk chalk drawings of the city’s overlooked objects – mailboxes, garbage cans, street signs, bicycles etc. – have become a trademark in street art culture worldwide. OCULAR ECHOISM: THE AUTONOMY OF ELLIS GALLAGHER is collectively the artist’s most ambitious body of work to date and includes limited edition screenprints, original photography, skate decks, fire tags and an indoor New York City street scene installation, garbage included.”
Ellis’ installations look fantastic in person so make sure to head to 169 Bowery (Between Broome Street and Delancey Street) next Thursday if you can.
