Andrew Pommier RSS Feed

Andrew Pommier is in Vancouver, a part of the world where it's pointless to take the fenders off ones bike. He does a bunch of drawings and paintings that sometimes get shown in galleries and has worked for various skateboard and clothing companies, some big time others small time. At the time of this writing he lives in a small drafty coach house in the east end of the city. In the house is a cranky loud cat that never seems pleased. He likes peanut butter and banana sandwiches. He has been to China once.

It’s been a minute since I have been around here.

Best news is my website is back up and running.

What else?  Had a skateboard in a show at The Baitshop in Toronto last week.  The show was to raise money for cancer research.  Nice to lend a hand in a small way.

    top

This is the top graphic.  Like to add those even though most people don’t get to see them.  It just feels more skateboardy, ya know?

    board

This is the bottom.  I painted the figure on illustration board and to give it a little distance from the board physically I put a few risers between the two.  I try to make an art board look less like a production board when I do these shows.  If you just paint on the wood it doesn’t get far enough away from looking like something you would find on a skateshop wall.

  • Get Rippy

I was asked to take part in a show that I had to say yes to it for no other reason than my 13 year old self would have cut out his gall bladder to be part of a Powell-Peralta art show.

    Fan Boy December 2008

    Fan Boy

Desiree Astorga currated this show that asked a grip of artists to re-interpret the iconic Ripper logo drawn by 80s skate graphic heavy weight V.C.Johnson.  The art was shown at the recent ASR.

The work is now available online for purchase here.

  • Lightning Bolt

Lightning Bolts is a BMX-inspired exhibit created around the historic introduction of BMX as an Olympic sport. Nike teamed up with BMX Hall of Famer, Bob Haro, recreating his iconic number plate as a blank canvas.

I was lucky enough to be asked to participate in the final show that is happening this Wednesday, the 10th, at the Montablan Theater in LA.

All the plates will be part of an online auction.  The money raised will be going to help injured action sport athletes.

    Love the Sachs.

There is also a Hello KittyxSachsxObama t-shirt produced to by Colette to coincide with the show.  I scanned the Colette website but couldn’t find the t-shirt for sale, maybe I didn’t look right.

My old external hard drive gave me a very clear warning that it was about to die. So before it gave up the ghost and taking 7 years of info with it I replaced it with a very cleanly designed LeCie USB 250 GB portable hard drive.

Just spent the last two weeks putting up a show as well as hanging in Sydney with fellow slamxhyper Mr. Joseph Allen. I have to say I miss the warm and lazy spring days of Australia as it is freezing in my house and won’t warm up until April. Argh.

  • Three Stripe Skate Hype 2 – Beijing

This July I was lucky enough to be flown over to Shanghai with a fantastic group of international artists for an adidas sponsored skate contest and art show. It was a pretty rock star experience. 5 star hotels and press conferences. I’m back home but the art show part of the event continues on. The art has just been installed in the adidas store in Beijing. See more photos at skatehere.com.

  • Panos 2013

UNCHI LEISURE CENTER has just installed their 2nd art display in Lyon, France. Their first was in 2004. They collected a wide variety of artists from around the world. They asked each artist to design a graphic or two using the typical European red and white round street sign that are then scattered around the streets of Lyon. I have a sign in the mix but the photos show two of my favourites.
